Our school celebrated our nation’s 71st Independence Day on August 15, 2017. The formal proceedings were presided over by Chief Guest Lt. Colonel Narayanan Nair, Principal Dhanya Ma’am and our Academic Advisor Mrs. Padma Muraleedharan. The celebration started with flag hoisting by the chief guest, followed by flag salute and national anthem by the whole school.

The formal function followed, with the school prayer, welcome address and inaugural address. Our school took the opportunity to honour Lt. Col. Narayanan Nair who served the Indian Army for 28 years, and is now 96 years old. Nandan of 9A adorned the chief guest with a ‘Ponnada’.

Students dressed up as Indian legends paid tribute to our great national heroes and reformers who had worked for our independence. Rahul Pradeep of 6-A recited the poem ‘Freedom’ and Harinarayanan of 9A delivered a speech on Indian Independence. There was also a mass drill by students of classes 6, 7 and 8. National Anthem and Patriotic Song competitions were also held in connection with the celebrations. Our KG students danced to the beat of “Hum he Hindustani”, and Nevin C. Delson and Harinarayanan of 9A performed a musical fusion, “Ma tujhe salaam”. The whole school took part in the celebrations.
